That old foreman's chalk line trick still saves my layout
Worked a boiler repair over in Gary last month and this younger guy was fighting with a laser level for 20 minutes. Old foreman from my first job, Mike, came over and popped a chalk line, snapped two marks, and we had the header layout done in under 5. He used to say the laser only helps if the surface is true, and a chalk line never lies about a warped plate. Has anyone else gone back to old school layout tools after a job went sideways on a digital readout?
