Vent: got a snapped stud out of a tube sheet with a candle and an old timer's trick
Had a stud snap off flush on a boiler tube sheet last Tuesday and I was about to drill it out and risk buggering the threads. A guy on my crew named Ray told me to heat the stub with a torch and touch a plain candle to it, then back it out with an easy out. I figured he was messing with me but I tried it, and the wax wicked into the threads and that stud spun right out with barely any torque. Took 4 minutes instead of the hour I had blocked off for drilling. Any of you run into this one, and does it work as good on stainless?
