Vent: wasted $300 on a fancy welding helmet I barely touch now

Picked up that auto-darkening Miller helmet at a shop near Tulsa last spring cause everyone online swore by it. Turns out my old fixed shade works better for the tight spots I do in boiler tubes, the auto lens keeps flashing on reflections. Sold it to a kid for $80, so I ate $220 just to learn my gear was never the issue. Anyone else burn cash on upgrades they ended up ditching for the cheap beater?
