Hot take: our club spent 3 weeks fighting over a book that the author said he hated writing
We picked a novel for our group in January and went at it hard for 3 meetings straight. Then I looked up the author and found a 2011 interview where he flat out said he rushed the ending and wished he could rewrite it. Half our big debate was about choices he didn't even stand behind. Now I want us to read one author interview before we argue about a book. Does your group check what the writer actually said, or just go off the text?
