My neighbor Carol said our book club picks too many "sad mom" novels and now I can't stop seeing it
Carol is 71 and has been in the Thursday night group at the library on Oak Street for 9 years, and she said something last week that stuck with me. She pointed out that our picks for 2024 were almost all about moms with a rough home life, and honestly she was right. Looking back at old flyers from when I joined in 2016, we used to mix in mysteries and travel books, and I miss that. Does your group have a rule about balancing heavy books with lighter ones, or do you just go by whatever gets the most votes?
