Our club split 7 to 5 on picking the next book blind, and the loser side is still mad at me
Last month at our meeting in the back room of a pizza place in Ann Arbor, we argued for 40 minutes about how to pick our next read. Half the group wanted to keep voting from a shortlist like always, the other half wanted me to grab a random book off the shelf with no warning. I pushed for the blind grab since our picks had gotten too safe and samey, and it won 7 to 5. We pulled a 1970s spy novel nobody had heard of, and three people who voted against it now say it's the best talk we've had in a year. Has your club ever tried a blind pick, and did it blow up in your face like I figured it would?
