Spent $35 on that book light clip for late night reading and it backfired hard

I bought this little LED clip-on light from Amazon thinking it would let me read in bed without waking my wife, but the thing shines right in her eyes no matter how I angle it. Now I'm back to using my phone flashlight which is way worse and she's still annoyed. Anyone else find a decent book light that actually doesn't blind your partner?

no matter how I angle it" - oh man, that's the worst. I had the same issue until I got one of those neck reading lights (you know, the bendy ones that wrap around your neck). The light points exactly where my book is and the back of the light is dark so it doesn't hit my husband's face. Game changer for like $15 on Amazon. Just make sure it's the kind with separate left and right bulbs.

Wait, wait, wait. @ward.fiona, you're telling me a neck light is actually only $15? I paid like forty bucks for mine and I was mad about it. The separate left and right bulbs thing is a pro tip though - my first one had just a single bar and it was terrible, created this weird shadow right in the middle of the page. The bendy ones are the only way to go, seriously.
