Warning: Our book club read 14 books in 11 months and I think that number ruined our talks
Everyone in my Tuesday night group in Columbus brags about finishing 14 books since January, and I'm the only one who thinks that pace is killing the whole point. My favorite discussion all year was for a 300 page novel we gave two meetings to back in March, and people showed up with actual notes and disagreements. Now we blow through a book in one session, half the group admits they skimmed, and the talk turns into quick plot summaries. Am I wrong for wanting fewer books and longer talks, or is a high count actually something to be proud of?
