Noticed more talk about plant-based glue, so I tried it and now I'm confused.

I used a plant-based adhesive for binding a small notebook. It dried clear and looked great at first. However, the spine cracked after just a gentle use. I'm not sure if I applied it wrong or if the glue itself isn't suited for bookbinding. Has anyone else had similar problems with these new glues?

Watching my homemade book slowly fall apart.

Oh, the slow death of a homemade book is always a bit heartbreaking. I've saved a few by using clear packing tape along the spine, it buys you some time. For a more permanent fix, bookbinding glue from any craft store works wonders, just be careful not to use too much. Honestly, sometimes the worn-out look adds character, but if you want it to last, reinforcing the covers with cardboard helps too. Just don't panic and throw it out, most fixes are easier than they seem.
