The old timer at my property inspection changed how I see houses

I was walking a 1970s ranch in Columbus with a buyer and this 70 year old inspector pointed out how the original floor joists were still solid while new ones sagged. He said "they just don't dry the lumber right anymore" and it hit me that older stuff really was made better. Anybody else find themselves looking at old builds differently after a conversation like that?

Blame the lumber drying but also look at how fast they frame now. That air dried wood sat for months before getting nailed in, not green lumber off a truck same day.

Wait... they really frame houses with wood that fresh?
