The vending machine at work ate my lunch money for the 4th time

I work the front desk at a county records office in Bakersfield, mostly just sitting there for 8 hours. Last Tuesday I put in $3.50 for a sad turkey sandwich and the machine just blinked at me, no drop, no change back, nothing. I stood there for a solid minute pressing the return button like it would suddenly care, then I had to file a stupid online form with the facilities department. They said it could take three weeks to process, which is longer than the sandwich would've lasted anyway. This is the fourth time this year that same machine has stolen my cash, and I keep thinking I should just bring food from home. But every morning I'm too tired to pack anything, so I roll the dice again. Has anyone else had a machine or system at work that just fails constantly and nobody bothers to fix it?
