Three weeks of alphabetizing invoices finally paid off today

I spent 3 weeks quietly sorting 14 boxes of old invoices into date order, and my boss finally noticed when he needed a 2019 receipt in two minutes. He actually said "good job" which is the first compliment I got since starting this warehouse gig six months ago. Has anyone else had a boring task suddenly become the highlight of your week?

The 2019 receipt thing is cute and all, but my first thought was that you spent three weeks on something that could've been done in a couple days if you just used a scanner or a basic spreadsheet. A "good job" from a boss who took six months to notice you is not exactly a standing ovation. I'd be more concerned that he only cares about your work when he needs something in a hurry. It's nice you got a compliment, but don't let one "good job" make you forget you're still stuck alphabetizing invoices in a warehouse for a guy who barely talks to you.

Did you at least treat yourself to something after he said that? There's nothing like that little rush when someone finally sees all the quiet work you've been doing in the background.
