Unpopular opinion: that one piece of job advice you got, was it gold or garbage?
Back at my old data entry gig in Dayton, a coworker with 20 years in swore that if I typed slower and triple checked every field, the boss would notice my accuracy and promote me. I did it for 3 weeks, my speed tanked, and my manager just told me to pick up the pace. So was her advice straight up wrong, or did I just work at a place that never rewards that stuff?
