Why does nobody talk about how pointless those 'core values' posters are until you actually need one
I work nights at a hospital doing 12 hour shifts and for the past two years our break room has had this laminated poster about how we're all 'accountable' and 'present.' I always figured it was just cheap decor from corporate. Then last Tuesday around 3am a patient's family member started screaming at a new grad nurse over a vending machine snack, and our charge nurse stepped in and actually used one of those lines to calm the whole hallway down. I stood there holding a cold cup of tea and honestly could not believe it worked. So now I'm torn. Maybe the posters are just brainwashing with extra steps, or maybe someone in HR really did figure out which words get people through a rough night. What finally made you believe in your job's cheesy slogans, or was it all just noise?
