Hot take: I finally got my savings account to $2,000 and I can't decide if that's a win or a sign I've been playing it too safe
I set a goal back in January to save $1,000 for emergencies and somehow crossed $2,000 by the end of June. Part of me says great, that's a real cushion and I should keep going. The other part says I've been turning down stuff with friends for six months and living like a hermit to hit a number that doesn't actually do anything for me right now. My buddy says having the cash is the whole point and I'm overthinking it. My sister says $2,000 sitting in a savings account is basically losing money and I should have invested it or used it on my car that keeps stalling. So now I'm stuck wondering if the habit of saving is the real boss I beat, or if I just traded one problem for another. How do you all decide when saving turns into hoarding?
