Paid off my $1,900 card in 14 weeks with the snowball method and the weird part wasnt the money
I had three cards sitting at about $1,900 total and I kept making minimum payments for close to two years while telling myself I was handling it. Back in March I finally wrote every balance on a sticky note, put them in order from smallest to biggest, and threw every spare dollar at the smallest one until it hit zero. The first card was only $210 and I killed it in 11 days, and that was the part that got me. I felt this dumb little rush of actually winning something, and it made me want to attack the next one way harder than I ever did when I was just chipping away at all three at once. What I learned is the problem was never the amount, it was that paying a little on everything felt like losing on everything. The snowball thing sounds like a gimmick until you feel that first card go to zero. Curious if anyone here has tried the debt avalanche version instead and whether the math actually kept you going or if you missed that quick win feeling.
