hit 50 rejection emails in one job hunt week
Applied to 60 jobs last week and got 50 rejections by Friday. My boss is a nightmare but I can't leave because nobody wants to hire me right now. How do you guys keep your sanity when the numbers look this bad?

...and that reminds me of something kind of weird that happened to me a few years ago. I was going through a similar job hunt and I kept getting these rejection emails that felt super personal - like they actually read my resume and still said no. Turned out one of them was from a company I'd already interviewed with three months earlier. They rejected me again. Different job posting, same company, same HR person sent the auto-reject. So I called the HR person and she was super confused - she said the system just auto-rejected anyone who had applied before without even looking at the new application. So take this with a grain of salt but maybe some of those 50 are just computer glitches or automated systems being dumb. Not saying it makes the sting any less real, but it might help your numbers not feel quite as hopeless. Your mileage may vary obviously.

Real talk for a second - is that actually 50 rejections or are you counting auto-generated 'we moved on with other candidates' emails? Those things get sent out like confetti. I got 40 of those in a month once and realized only about 8 were from actual human decisions. Your miles may vary but in my experience, companies blast those out to anyone who even breathed on their application portal. Might be worth checking if some of those 'rejections' are really just noise. Also, 60 applications in a week is a lot. That's like 12 a day. Quality over quantity maybe? Take this with a grain of salt though. I've been wrong before.
