I stopped letting my old boss push me into working through lunch, and my production numbers actually went UP
At my old concrete job in Tulsa, my foreman would always pile on the "quick question" right as we sat down to eat, and I'd end up wolfing a sandwich in 4 minutes. After I quit, I started keeping a hard rule with my new crew: 30 minutes, no talk about the job, and I tracked our pour times over 3 months. We finished jobs faster than we did when everyone was half fed, which I did not expect. Has anyone else noticed that a boss who won't let people rest is usually the same one who can't plan worth a darn?
