The Chevy Vega is a good example of what happens when a company skips a step to save a few bucks. Same thing shows up all over, like those nonstick pans that flake apart in a year or shoes where the sole peels off at the toe. Somebody in a meeting decided the cheaper way was good enough and figured most people would not notice until later. That is the part that gets me, because they know it will wear out, they just count on you buying another one. It is not a mistake, it is a plan. The Vega just made it obvious because a whole engine died in 40k miles instead of quietly falling apart.

Ugh, those hidden corrosion gremlins are the worst, you do everything right and still get burned. I usually hit the pins with a little contact cleaner and a Q-tip before I trust any connector that's been sitting outside.
