Vent: Found a way to get my micromanaging boss to back off for a whole week

My boss used to stand behind my chair and watch every report I pulled up, which drove me nuts. I started sending him a quick 2 sentence update before he could ask, and it bought me 5 days of peace. Has anyone else tried pre-empting their boss's nagging with a short email?

lol yeah now my boss thinks i'm psychic or something. gotta love when a little anxiety feeding turns into a whole week of peace.

Saw a management blog mention that most bosses ask because they're anxious, not because they're controlling, so giving them info before they need it works like a charm. Sounds like you proved that theory right.
