My neighbor called my pothos 'just a weed' and it changed how I look at my whole plant shelf
So my next door neighbor Deb came over last Saturday to borrow a ladder and stopped dead at my pothos that's been trailing down the bookshelf for about 3 feet now. She goes 'oh you still have that thing? my mom used to pull those out of the yard in Tampa, they're basically weeds down there.' I stood there kind of stunned and then realized she wasn't wrong, pothos grow like crazy in Florida zones and I've been babying this plant like it's rare for 2 years. It made me think about how much of what we treat as 'special houseplants' up north is just common ground cover somewhere else. Now I'm wondering if anyone else has had a plant humbled like that, and which ones people from warmer states think are funny to see in pots?
