My neighbor Dot said to put my pothos in the north window, and six months later it's finally pushing out new leaves
I had it in a bright south window for 2 years and it just sat there with 4 sad leaves. Moved it to the north window like Dot said and now there are 7 new leaves since March. What's the light situation where your pothos actually grows?

North windows are actually the worst spot in most homes for a pothos, so I have to push back here. Those new leaves probably came from something else you changed around the same time, like watering more often, fresher soil, or the seasons shifting into spring when light levels go up everywhere. A plant sitting still for two years in a south window usually means it was too dry, root bound, or just shocked, not that it hated the light. Pothos wants bright indirect light and a north window gives you the dimmest light in the house, barely enough to keep one alive let alone push seven leaves. Your mileage may vary, but I would bet Dot's advice and your plant waking up are just a coincidence.
