My Venus flytrap ate a wasp and then the pot fell off the shelf at the arboretum tour
I was at the Franklin Park Conservatory last Saturday giving a little demo of my carnivorous plants, you know, showing off the traps and stuff. This big red wasp landed right on the rim of my flytrap and I thought, cool, free snack for the plant. It snapped shut and the whole thing looked awesome, people were taking photos. Then I turned to grab my water bottle and my elbow caught the pot. It flew off the shelf, dirt everywhere, and the flytrap landed upside down on the concrete walkway. The wasp was still stuck in the trap, buzzing faintly, and the plant looked like a sad green pancake. I repotted it right there with soil from a nearby planter (probably not great, but it survived). Now I only bring plants to the conservatory if they're in a heavy ceramic pot or I keep them on the floor. Has anyone else had a plant disaster happen during a public demo? I feel like I need a better setup for showing off without knocking things over.
