My dad's old comment about drywall mud finally clicked last Tuesday
He used to say back in 1979, when he framed houses outside of Spokane, that 'you fight the tape, not the joint.' I always thought he was being dramatic. Then I spent six hours last weekend on a 12 foot ceiling crack in my hallway and realized I was pressing too hard on the tape, creating air pockets. Has anyone else had a parent's throwaway tip suddenly make sense after years of doing it wrong yourself?
Loving that dad drops wisdom in 1979 and you needed 6 hours on a ceiling crack to get it. Sounds like the tape was fighting back and winning for years. Guess dads are always right eventually, annoying how that works.
