Ceramic pads on a rusty rotor, my bad for doubting the hype

I ran semi-metallic for like 8 years because my buddy swore ceramics were for grandmas. Then last spring I slapped a set of ceramics on my F-150 before a trip to Flagstaff. The first panic stop on a downhill grade was scary smooth, no fade after 20 minutes of braking. But here's the thing, they still dust just as much as metal pads, just lighter color. I tracked the wear after 6 months and they've got maybe 60% left, my old pads would be at 40%. Anyone else switch late and find ceramics are actually worth the extra $40?
