Hit 100k miles on my 2012 Civic and the original pads are still going strong

I was expecting to swap them at 80k but the mechanic measured them at 6mm last week. Anyone else had stock pads last way longer than the internet says they should?

Maybe it's just me but highway miles don't really wear brakes down.

Wait, you're telling me the highway miles where you barely touch the brakes somehow HARDER on them than stop-and-go traffic where you're slamming them every 30 seconds? That's like saying sleeping all day makes you MORE tired than running a marathon.
