Warning: That cheap brake pad swap at the Quick Lube on 3rd Street cost me a rotor
Stopped in for a quick change last Friday and they used some no-name pads that started squealing before I even got home. Checked my rotors this morning and they're already grooved up bad, so now I'm out another $120 for new rotors I didn't plan on.

Heard from a mechanic friend that those quick lube places often use the CHEAPEST pads they can find in bulk.

Maybe it's just me but those quick lube places usually have a torque wrench that's been dropped one too many times. Over-torquing the lug nuts can warp the rotor face before you even leave the lot, causing that pulsing feel that eats pads faster. I've seen it happen on my buddy's Civic after a chain shop job - rotors looked fine but were slightly bent from the impact gun. Could be why yours went bad so quick even with decent pads if they were on there.
