Can we talk about how many people still don't butter their bricks properly? I was helping a friend on a patio job in Springfield and saw the previous crew's work. The mortar joints were full of gaps because they just slapped it on.

It's the same lack of care you see with bad drywall or sloppy paint jobs everywhere.

My uncle in Dayton taught me to butter the whole face of the brick, not just the edges. @xena886 is right, it's all about taking that extra second to care.
