Mortar mix was off on a retaining wall job yesterday, had to tear out 6 feet before it set.

I was rushing through a job near downtown Portland and used a batch of Type S that sat too long in the wheelbarrow, the whole section crumbled when I tapped it with my trowel, has anyone else had a mix go bad on them mid-pour?

You ever have a moment where you look at your own work and just go "yep, that's going to be a problem"? I was doing a little sidewalk patch last month, got distracted by my phone ringing, and left the mix sitting in the sun for like 20 minutes. When I came back it felt like I was trying to spread dried up play-doh. Had to chip out a whole 3 foot section with a chisel and hammer while my neighbor watched from his porch drinking coffee. At least with your wall you caught it before it fully set, I had to let my patch harden overnight and then try to bust it out the next morning, which is about as fun as it sounds.

Pretty much every time I trim a poodle down to a 7 blade and forget to switch to a 10 for the face. You look at that naked face and just know the owner is gonna be mad. @jason958 you're describing every rushed groom I've ever done, just with concrete instead of dog hair.
