Appreciation post: the guy at my laundromat in Fresno who showed me his $11 grocery run
I was folding clothes last Saturday and this older guy saw me counting quarters for the dryer and just started talking about how he feeds himself on $11 a week by hitting the discount rack at Foods Co right when they mark stuff down. He pulled out a receipt showing 4 lbs of chicken leg quarters for $3.20 and I've been thinking about it since. Has anyone else gotten real money advice from a total stranger like that?
Did he actually say $11 a week though, or was that just for that one trip? Chicken leg quarters are cheap but feeding yourself on that little for seven days straight doesn't add up unless he's skipping meals.
