Grocery cash envelopes versus credit card points, which side are you on now?
I used to swear by cash envelopes for groceries. Every Sunday I pulled out $300 for the week, no exceptions, and it worked for about two years. Then I got a cash back card that pays 5% at supermarkets, so I switched to charging everything and paying it off monthly. Now I save around $60 a month in rewards, but I notice I grab extra items way more often than with cash. My total grocery bill crept up from $300 to $340, so the points barely cover the difference. Has anybody else bounced between these two methods and landed somewhere solid, or are you team cash only forever?
