Zero grocery spending for 10 days, then a $40 slip up in one hour
I've been doing this no-spend challenge since the first of the month. Cooked everything from the pantry and freezer, ate weird combos like chickpea pasta with canned tuna and hot sauce. Felt pretty good about it. Then Thursday I walked into Target for dish soap and walked out with $40 of snacks and a new spatula. The weird part is I didn't even feel guilty, I just laughed at myself. The pantry meals were fine but I clearly hit a wall. Has anyone else made it through a long stretch and then blown it on something dumb like a kitchen gadget? How do you reset without just giving up on the whole idea?

Reframe the $40 as the real cost of learning your limit, that's way cheaper than quitting the whole month over it. You didn't blow the challenge, you just found the exact spot where it stops working, so next time you'll know to budget a little fun in from the start.

@walker.robert nailed it, but my own slip was buying a $60 cast iron pan during a no-spend week and telling myself it was for "meal prep efficiency". The pan sits on my counter as a trophy of my failure.
