Paid $180 for a 'diagnostic' before checking one $8 part

Took my tablet to a shop in Austin because it kept shutting off randomly. They charged me $180 upfront to 'run tests' and came back saying I needed a whole new motherboard, quoted me another $300. I said no and grabbed it, then checked YouTube at home. Turns out the battery connector was loose, I reseated it with a plastic spudger from my phone kit and its been fine for 2 months now. Anyone else ever paid for a rip-off diagnostic before checking the simple stuff first?

Ha! Honestly I used to think paying for a pro to look at stuff was always worth it, but this totally flips that. Dude, $180 for a loose plug is insane when a 10 minute video would've done the job.
