My old phone lasted two years after I dropped it in a parking lot and the screen looked like a spider web. I always figured any crack meant the whole thing was doomed, so hearing there's actually a time window to it caught me off guard. The shop guy I talked to back then never mentioned anything about a 3 second rule, I just assumed I had to live with it or pay up immediately. Honestly, it makes sense though, the stress from the first crack can spread if you keep using it before the glass settles. Kinda wish I knew that before I let my last one sit in my pocket for a week.
