That one perfect pour day last spring still sticks with me

Wild, I can barely finish a small patio before noon without something going sideways." That's how my buddy Dave felt too. He's a good finisher but always has something go wrong. Last year he had one of those perfect days where everything just clicked. He was doing a driveway out in Round Rock and the truck showed up early, the slump was dead on, and the rebar was perfectly spaced. He told me he finished the whole pour by 1pm and sat in his truck eating lunch feeling like a champion. I swear he's been chasing that high ever since but it hasn't happened again.

Hostel loyalty points fooled me for 4 years until a solo trip to Lisbon changed my mind

Why do people fall for fake savings over real cash?

That $40 truck rental from U-Haul ended up costing me $300

Well now @walker.andrew, I gotta say I see it a little different. Those surprise fees are annoying, sure, but the real issue is people not reading the fine print before they sign. I've rented from U-Haul maybe six times over the years and I always ask them to walk me through every single line item before I hand over my card. They'll tell you about the mileage cap and the gas policy if you just ask. The hidden fees feel dishonest, but honestly a lot of them are written right there in the contract if you take five minutes to look. Next time try calling a local shop or a neighbor with a pickup truck - that's what I've started doing for small jobs.
