TIL a guy at a repair cafe in Dayton talked me out of a $90 screen fix
Took my cracked phone to one of those free repair cafe events at a library in Dayton last month, mostly because I figured it couldn't hurt. This older guy named Walt sat with me for 20 minutes and asked to see the phone before touching it, then pointed at the corner and said "your digitizer's fine, that's just the glass, and you're one drop from a real problem." He showed me how to check touch response on the dead spots and wrote down the exact part number on a sticky note. I ordered the glass for $14 and did it myself at the kitchen table after watching two videos, and it worked on the second try. Walt didn't fix anything for me, he just asked the right questions and saved me the cash. Curious if anyone here has been to one of these cafe events and gotten that kind of no-pressure help?
