Frozen veg vs fresh for meal prep, is the savings real?
I started swapping fresh broccoli and peppers for the $1.29 frozen bags about 3 weeks ago and my grocery bill dropped like $18 a week, but the texture in my stir fries is kinda mushy. Anyone else think the dollar savings is worth eating soggy veggies, or do you stick with fresh and just shop the markdown bin at 8 PM?
The texture in your stir fries is kinda mushy and honestly that's just the price you pay for cheap veggies, literally. I did the same swap last winter and my fried rice turned into sad green mush, so now I only use frozen for soups and curries where nobody can tell. The $18 a week is real money though, so maybe split the difference and keep fresh for stir fry nights.
