My $12 meat grinder hack saved taco night after I broke the blade on a Tuesday
So I was trying to make ground beef for tacos last Tuesday in my kitchen in Akron and the plastic blade on my $12 hand grinder snapped clean off after about 3 pounds of chuck. I panicked because I had 2 pounds of meat left and guests coming at 6, so I grabbed my $8 cleaver and just went at it on the cutting board for 20 minutes until it looked close enough to ground. The tacos turned out fine and honestly nobody noticed, plus I found a metal replacement blade online for $6 shipped. Now I keep a backup blade in the drawer and a cheap cleaver as plan B. Anyone else had a cheap kitchen tool fail mid cook, and did you fix it or just toss it?
