My aunt's comment on my meal prep routine made me rethink portions
I used to pile rice and beans into every container, thought I was stretching groceries. My aunt watched me pack lunch last month and said "you're eating for two, not a family." She pointed out I was cooking 2 cups dry rice for one person. Cut it to 3/4 cup, now my $15 chicken thigh batch feeds me 5 days instead of 3. Anyone else size down after a relative called them out?
My aunt did the same thing to me but with pasta! I was boiling a whole box of spaghetti for myself and she just stared at the pot like I was committing a crime. Told me my eyes were way bigger than my stomach and she wasn't wrong. Now I do half a box and somehow I'm not starving at 9pm digging through the pantry like a raccoon. The worst part is she was right and I hate admitting it.
