My team's lunch swap idea made meals affordable

Office lunches cost too much. A coworker suggested a meal swap. Now we each prep one big dish weekly. I make chili, she makes pasta. Trading cuts our food bills. Has this worked for anyone?

Do you ever worry someone will phone it in and you're stuck with a week of sad sandwiches? The real trust fall isn't at team building, it's hoping her pasta won't give you the vibe checks. I guess if it goes wrong, you save on lunch but spend it all on antacid.

Last week at our block party, my neighbor brought a 'tuna surprise' that looked more like cat food gone wrong. Everyone took polite nibbles while secretly eyeing the escape routes. Her face fell when she saw the barely touched platter, and I felt awful for her. Now I always bring extra snacks just in case, because nobody wants to starve out of politeness. Trusting potluck dishes is a gamble, but at least it makes for good stories later.
