PSA: Just hit $2,800 on my grocery bill this month and didn't even notice till now

I was adding up receipts for our monthly budget and realized we spent $2,800 on food just for two people. That's double what we used to spend two years ago on the same meals. Has anyone else seen their grocery costs creep up that much without realizing it?

$2,800 for two people? That would make me sit down hard. We're a family of four and I thought our $600 a week was bad, but you've got us beat by a long shot.

Start shopping at Aldi if there's one near you. Cut eating out to once a week, biggest money sink there is.

Honestly I saw something the other day about how eating out just twice a week adds up to like $400 a month more than cooking at home. @laurar38 I've heard that shopping at ethnic grocery stores can cut your bill by a third compared to regular chains. Tbh if I can just get my Aldi trips and eating out down to once a week I'd probably save a ton too.
