Am I the only one who thinks airport food is actually a budget travel hack if you time it right?
So I flew out of Dallas Love Field two weeks ago on a Tuesday at 6am and grabbed a breakfast burrito and coffee for $7 total because the little taco spot near gate 8 does a pre-7am combo deal. My buddy swears by the opposite approach, he fasts the whole travel day and packs three PB and Js from home, says he saves $40 every trip. I tried his way once on a flight to Phoenix and ended up spending $22 on a sad turkey wrap in the terminal by hour nine because I caved. Here is my thing though, a $7 burrito at 6am beats a squished sandwich from my backpack every single time, but he counters that $7 times ten trips is $70 a year. Curious where people land on this, do you budget for one good airport meal or pack everything and white knuckle it? What is the actual dollar amount where airport food stops being worth it for you?
