Appreciation post for the hostel worker in Prague who saved me $40

I was about to book a pricey river tour last month when the front desk guy at my hostel pulled me aside and showed me a free walking route along the Vltava that hits all the same spots. Has anyone else gotten a local tip that beat any paid option?

Tbh I had a buddy who went to Lisbon last year and almost dropped like 60 euros on some "fado night" dinner show. The guy at his hostel told him to just go to a bar in Alfama where old locals sing fado for free after midnight. He said it was way more real and he spent like 10 bucks on wine the whole night. Those hostel workers really know their stuff, they save you money and give you the actual experience.

Gotta love those hostel workers... they always know the real spots. Your buddy saved like 50 bucks and got a way better experience. That's the kind of trip advice you can't buy.
