Got stranded in Madrid for 8 hours with no backup plan

So I was flying from Barcelona to Porto last spring and my budget airline pulled a last-minute cancelation. They offered a flight 14 hours later and just said "sorry" with no hotel voucher or meal credit. I ended up sleeping on a bench near gate B23 with my backpack as a pillow and a 3 euro sandwich from a vending machine. The trick that saved me was finding a 24/7 laundromat in the terminal where I could charge my phone and crash on a dry seat for a few hours. Has anyone else figured out weird airport spots to kill time when you're stuck overnight?

Wasn't it like 4 euros though? I remember walking by that spot last week and the sign said four fifty.
