Hit 50 hot dog stands on a single road trip across Texas, $2.75 total per meal

I drove from Houston to El Paso last month and made it my mission to only eat at gas station hot dog rollers. Averaged $2.75 per meal including a drink, and I only got mild food poisoning once near Junction. Anyone else ever tried the hot dog diet to save cash while traveling?

Man that Junction gas station hot dog roller is basically a rite of passage in Texas. I did a similar thing on a San Antonio to Amarillo run and hit like 30 different QuikTrips. The real pro move is grabbing one of those little plastic bags of crackers to crush up on top for some texture. Mild food poisoning is just the initiation fee for that kind of savings honestly.
