My 'cheap' rental car in Barcelona cost me $180 in hidden fees
Rented from a local agency near the airport because it was $25 a day cheaper than the big names. Turned out they charged $40 for a toll pass I never asked for, plus $15 a day for a second driver that was 'mandatory' per their fine print. Got hit with a $60 cleaning fee for sand on the floor mats, which I only noticed when I got my credit card statement. Total ended up $95 more than the big brand would've cost. Anyone else get burned by these airport counter tricks, or do you have a way to spot them before booking?

That's why the big names charge more, they're upfront about the extras.
