inHad my worst week of commission work in 5 years
40 hours of work and they pulled that right at the finish line? That's brutal, man. I had a client do something similar where they approved the sketch, the lineart, AND a color mockup, then tried to back out when I sent the final high-res file claiming they "didn't like the shading style." Ended up eating 20 hours on that one after they threatened a PayPal dispute.

inTook me 6 years to realize I was pricing my cleaning jobs all wrong
Wow @lunaw72, that's smart but I feel like customers would just get annoyed by extra fees popping up.

inHeard a crazy number about drywall dust at a supply house in Cincinnati
Hold on, 2 pounds from ONE sheet? That number sounds WAY off to me. Sanding dry mud would release that much weight in dust, but cutting a single 5/8 board? You'd be left with sharp chips and larger particles, not 2 pounds of airborne silica flour. Most of that weight either falls to the floor or gets captured by the wall cavity. I bet that safety bulletin was talking about cumulative exposure from grinding old joint compound, not fresh drywall cuts.

inLooking back at my choice between Botox and filler for my forehead lines
Yeah, that "plan you start with" thing is spot on. I've had jobs where I mapped out every step down to the minute, and it all falls apart by lunch because something unexpected comes up. You gotta be ready to scrap the whole thing and figure it out as you go. It's like making a to-do list and realizing halfway through that the first three things don't even matter anymore.

inA wedding party of eight showed up with box dye disasters
Wait, have you ever actually seen box black dye go green on someone's hair in person? @sarah268 I read somewhere that cheap black box dye has a blue-green base that shows up awful on porous hair, especially if someone's been coloring it before. So no, a simple toner wouldn't have fixed that mess. Toners work on yellow or orange tones, not patchy green spots all over eight heads of hair. Plus the bride probably didn't want to walk down the aisle looking like she'd been swimming in a chlorinated pool. Those girls probably spent a ton on dresses and flowers, the last thing they needed was 7 bridesmaids with swamp-colored hair in all their pictures. The salon had to do what they had to do, even if it wrecked their whole schedule.
