Took me four hours to realize I could just call the hostel directly instead of booking online

I was trying to book a bed in Medellin through Hostelworld and kept getting error messages for like 45 minutes. Then I noticed a phone number on their Facebook page and called them. Turned out they give a 15% discount if you book direct and they held my spot for free. Has anyone else found cheaper rates just by picking up the phone?

Man that's such a bummer you spent all that time dealing with website errors. I feel your pain so much, I've definitely been there staring at a loading screen forever. It's wild how something that simple can turn into a whole headache. But hey, at least you got a 15% discount out of it, that's a solid win. I bet a lot of people never even think to try calling because we're all so used to doing everything online now. Good on you for checking their Facebook page too, most people would have just given up.
