I left my fancy 12-color system for a single pen and 3 symbols
For about 4 years I ran a full bullet journal setup with color coding per category, washi tape borders, and monthly theme drawings. Every Sunday I spent 2 hours setting up spreads for the week ahead. Then last November my daughter spilled coffee on my March layout and I had a work deadline the same morning, so I grabbed a blue Pilot G2 and just started writing tasks with a simple dot, a circle for events, and a star for priorities. I haven't gone back since. The decorations were making me avoid opening the journal because it felt like a craft project, not a tool. Now I spend maybe 10 minutes each morning, my pages are half empty, and I actually use it daily. Has anyone else stripped down their system after putting all that effort into making it pretty? What did you cut first? On me it was the monthly mood tracker, I never once looked at it after January.
