I spent 2 years making my bujo spreads the night before, and a stranger at a coffee shop in Austin showed me why that was killing the whole point
I was at a coffee shop on South Congress about 3 weeks ago, rushing to draw my weekly spread for the next morning while my latte went cold, and a woman at the next table asked if I was doing homework. I laughed and said no, it was just my planner, and she said oh, I used to do that too, do you actually use it or just redraw it every week? That question hit me harder than it should have. I looked back at my last 6 months of layouts and realized I had pages of pretty boxes with almost nothing written in them, because by the time I finished coloring and lettering everything, I was too tired to plan anything. I was making art projects, not a planner. The whole reason I started a bujo was to keep track of my shifts and my bills, and I had turned it into a craft I stressed over every Sunday night. So now I dump everything in messy black pen first and decorate later, if at all. How do you all stop yourselves from turning your bujo into a competition with the pretty ones on Pinterest?
